Worst End-of-the-School-Year Mom

On Becoming a Writer

I allowed my husband to go a men-only ski trip with a bunch of middle-aged neighbors as long as he promised to tell me everything in an effort to gather material. He broke his collarbone on the slopes, rendering him one-armed for six weeks, and gave me only the tiniest morsels of gossip. Boy, did that plan backfire on me.

Regardless of your political affiliation, we can all learn something from the Irish electoral process. Recently in Ireland, the general election for Parliament (“Dail”) and Prime Minister (Taoiseach”) was announced. The general election was announced on February 3rd and is scheduled for February 26, 2016, resulting in just a twenty-three day period in which candidates can be announced, selected, vetted, and voted upon.
